Reboot is a how-to book for anyone who wants to build a technology strategy in a business world driven by innovation. The book starts by making the case that technology is a (if not the) central driver of business strategy today for most organizations. More than any other trend today, technology continues to remake businesses and industries as new ideas and innovations spawn competitors and entire industries. Reboot goes on to argue that most organizations get this technology strategy stuff horribly wrong...that they are using an antiquated model for thinking about technology (IT vs. Business) and that this out of date model is in part responsible for many of technologies casualties. Finally Reboot presents a solution. There is a better way to think strategically about technology and a better way to deliver on it.

Lisa B. Jasper

Lisa Jasper is the co-founder and chairwoman of Thought Ensemble. The compelling factors that drove Lisa to assist in the creation of Thought Ensemble were her love of consulting and thought leadership, but more importantly, the focus required for strategic planning in technology organizations in order for them to be successful. She believes focus is clearly the firm’s differentiating ingredient and is grateful for the chance to do what she loves with colleagues and clients who challenge her to think more progressively every day.

Her idea of fun is finding ways to ensure that great ideas don’t end up on the shelf, and creating unique approaches to make those strategies actionable. Her consulting career includes applications development and strategy roles with Accenture (Andersen Consulting), The Boston Consulting Group, Tactica Technology Group, Hitachi Consulting, and Pariveda Solutions. She has an MBA from Duke’s Fuqua School of Business and a Computer Science degree from Trinity University. Lisa currently serves on the board of the Denver Business Series and co-chairs the Colorado Software and Internet Association’s Education Committee. She sits on the Colorado alumni board for Trinity University and Fuqua Business School. In her spare time, she loves to read, attend her book club, and participate in wine classes, golf, yoga, hiking, and skiing. She resides in beautiful Colorado with her husband and budding family.

Jim Smelley

Jim Smelley is co-founder and CEO of Thought Ensemble. With over fifteen years of experience providing technology and management consulting, Jim wanted to share insights on how companies can reboot their IT strategy. Jim co-founded Thought Ensemble on a clear mission to focus on the strategic uses of technology in organizations, rather than to continue to perpetuate old ways of implementing technology. Jim has a fascination for the application of technology to solve business problems and specifically in leveraging emerging technologies to rethink business strategy.

Despite taking strategy very seriously, he enjoys designing strategies with smart, engaged teams to such an extent that it could almost be considered a form of recreation. Jim’s consulting career includes technology and strategy roles at Pariveda Solutions, Hitachi Consulting, Experio Consulting, Tactica Technology Group, and Deloitte Consulting. He was formerly a developer and tester with IQ Software. Jim currently serves on the Operations Committee of Big Thought and is a Big Brother with Big Brothers/Big Sisters. He has a B.S. in Computer Science from Trinity University and lives in Dallas,Texas.
