What if we went beyond autism awareness and started practicing autism admiration? What would happen if we allowed those with autism the space to develop at their own pace, for their ideas to be considered, for their strengths to flourish, and for their life challenges to be supported? What gifts would they bestow on the world?
When her son received an autism diagnosis, Tera Girardin often reflected on these questions. As she and her family became immersed in the autism community, Tera saw firsthand the challenges, joys, and extremely varying experiences of those with autism and their families. She felt compelled to explore the lives of these fascinating young individuals in a deeper way. Through the lens of her camera, author and photographer Tera Girardin captures the beautiful faces and inspiring stories of thirty different children with autism. Faces of Autism features full-color photography and messages of inspiration, admiration, and celebration of autism
